So I was just sitting at work trying to decide when to take my lunch break when my stomach begin to growl something fierce. It was one of those deep, crackling, growls that sounds exactly like a thunder storm in my belly. If you don't know what I'm talking about, go with me on this...if you do, meet me for a sandwich later. Any who, lets examine these two noises for a moment: a stomach growl, and thunder.
How can we truly know the difference when the sounds themselves are so alike? I understand this sounds like a stupid question with an obvious answer. But just consider, because, yes, even though a clap of thunder is much louder, the stomach growl is personal. Also, with it, comes the presence of hunger.
So also, consider this: how do we know when its God's voice talking to us, wanting to feed us with His love, joy, peace, and comfort, oppose to some loud clap of thunder from a nearby storm trying to scare us? Well good news! With God's voice, comes His presence! If you have the Spirit of God in you, you already know His truth and His love; these things are decision-makers within themselves so all we have to do is receive them. Oh, such a beautiful revelation! So be confident in your God-directed decisions!
When we eat (read and soak in) God's word He nurishes us with His love and perfection. And from that nourishing of our faith, God's will unfolds in our daily lives and He is constantly bringing us good things; in this I have unshakable faith. He is always telling us how much He loves us and I just can't wait to see what He does next!
As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
