The Nearness of God

May 3, 2012

A lot of times, my quiet time will start like this:

Lord, I need help with this. What should I do?”

[Strain to hear God, face grimacing]

[Head swirling, losing focus, becoming more confused]

Lord, I can't hear you.”

Yes you can

Oh, I forgot again. I keep thinking I have to strain to hear you. I keep forgetting that you are right here with me.”

[I picture God surrounding me. God has many qualities. I realize that all of those qualities are now available to me. Before I have time to ask for anything, emotions begin to pour out of me. My faith grows, I feel loved, I become inspired, I have a new passion, I realize I am healed, etc.]

In my deepest need, You provide

Exceedingly, abundantly

Above all I could ask or think

You provide

If you ever find yourself stuck spiritually or just frustrated in general, begin to boast of the finished work of Christ. It is because of Jesus that we are close to God. When you declare the work finished work of Christ, your faith and belief in the nearness of God increases. That is why communion is so powerful. Communion is proclaiming Christ's death; the healing that comes from His body and the forgiveness that flows from His blood.

You did not find God. God found you. He pursued you with love. He offered up the most valuable gift just so He could be near you. Boasting in the work of Christ will jog your memory, reminding you just how close God is. Everything changes when you realize how close He is.

I was far away from you, Jesus made me near.

I was broken off from you, Jesus made me near

Fullness

February 20, 2012
by John

The other day I was driving around and I started feeling weird. I didn't know what the feeling was for so I went through the usual checks.

Am I hungry? No

Did I just eat a bunch of junk food? No

Do I need to go exercise? Probably, but that's not what I'm feeling.

Is the Lord trying to tell me something? Always... but not with this particular feeling.

What is it?

I figured it out. One of my weird pet peeves was happening. My gas tank was on empty and my phone was almost...

My Stomach is Rumbling

January 27, 2012
by Whitney

So I was just sitting at work trying to decide when to take my lunch break when my stomach begin to growl something fierce. It was one of those deep, crackling, growls that sounds exactly like a thunder storm in my belly. If you don't know what I'm talking about, go with me on this...if you do, meet me for a sandwich later. Any who, lets examine these two noises for a moment: a stomach growl, and thunder.

How can we truly know the difference when the sounds themselves are so alike?...

Faith vs Fear

January 25, 2012

by Tavitris

I started my morning prayer with giving God all the fears that I could think of.

As I was praying, I saw a cat in a basket on a chair lift.

Then I saw a single drop of water drip from the chair lift line that the basket was attached.

Next I heard the Lord say "Wait until you see what I want to show you today”.

Then I heard Him say pick up your cell phone, which was lying next to my head. I thought this was weird or that I was just hearing my own voice. I doubted for ...

The Nature of God

January 20, 2012

by John

I love my personality. I am now 23 years old, a full-fledged adult. I have a wonderful relationship with the Lord and my wisdom is increasing everyday. But it is common knowledge to anyone that knows me that I can switch into a goofy, hilarious 12 year old boy in the bat of an eye.

Imagine me being 5 years old (I had George Washington hair if you need help). Now picture 5 year old me downing an entire can of ground coffee. That was what I was lik...

A perfect day

January 12, 2012
by John

Have you ever had a good day? How about a great day? What about a PERFECT day?

Today I had a perfect day. I prefer perfect days over most other types of days. Bad hair days, Mondays, National Hug Your Dog days, and even Waffle House days. A perfect day is very nice.

A perfect day is actually pretty easy to have. God is perfect and God is happy (1 Tim 1:11 Clarke).  Jesus was given to us so we can share the qualities of God! (Eph 3:19).

Today I had a lot of work to do. ...
